Feature
I have recently been busy with some small personal projects. One of which is the revival of RobertMcCoy.com and the other is pulling together old pictures from my past and scanning them to preserve them to share with my kids and future generations. To the left is me as a young lad and is one of the least embarassing pictures I wish to share. I may dig some more out as time goes by...
I will say that one little side hobby of mine is taking shape in that I finally decided to devote more time to learning linux. I have put the latest version of Ubuntu (10.04) on my netbook and I can honestly say that I think it is definitely a viable option for the average user to run on their computer. I think the only thing really holding back linux from mass adoption is the fact that almost every piece of hardware out there is already loaded with an OS (ie Windows or OSX) and by removing the preinstalled OS you essentially are throwing money out the window. I think that some company should put a nice netbook or laptop in Walmart (the store, not online) and sell it for $100 less than a comparable Windows machine and I think it would sell like crazy!
Well, hopefully I can post more regularly and actually find a useful way to keep this blog alive. Until then it will probably be rare, abstract dumps of what are on my mind at that time...
Welcome to the new RobertMcCoy.com home. I am still in limbo with deciding how to best accomplish what I want to do with this space and what hosting platform to use. Blogger may end up being a temporary solution, but at the very least it is a prettier place holder than what I had before if I lose interest or can not find the time to devote to this.
I own robertmccoy.com primarily for email addressing purposes but since I have the domain, I figure I might as well look into expanding it more. I really do not want to pay for domain hosting and I have looked into WordPress.com, Blogger, etc. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know what you think in the comments!
